"Searching for Serenity"

Serena Trinder

Capturing a brief moment of peace and tranquility is a special gift in today's modern age of technology and noise. I hope this exhibition evokes memories of peace and tranquility as the viewer travels with me on my journey.

Serena J. Trinder -

is a contemporary artist, originally from the South West coastal county of Dorset in Britain, but now lives in Mission, BC. Serena started her working life as a Registered Pediatric Nurse, but later went on to fuel her passion of history and art, by achieving her Bachelor Honours Degree in History. Serena worked on commissions, and at one stage was involved in Theatre design for the Winchester Amateur Operatic Society. Constantly drawn to the artistic world of expression, Serena was finally able to realize her dream as an artist in 2010.

Serena's work focuses mainly on landscape and architecturally inspired works, which can feed her love and interest in mythology and history. This is achieved through use of watercolour and ink. she draws her inspiration from her admiration for the great European stained glass windows visited during her childhood, and the changing landscapes around her, and how these landscapes interact with the human story throughout history. A love of jewel colours and intricate detail are woven together to produce pieces of art, which hold the interest of the onlooker, and draw them into the painting.

In her native Britain, Serena has sold private commissions and illustrated books. Since arriving in Canada, with her husband and son in 2010, she has exhibited in several private galleries throughout the Fraser Valley, held two exhibitions "Glimpses of Britain" (2012), and "The Serene and the Majestic" (2014) at the Mission Arts Centre, and one exhibition, "Tale of Two Counties" (2015) at the Kariton Gallery in Abbotsford. In 2015 Serena exhibited a painting at the juried entry of The Sidney Fine Arts Show on Vancouver Island. In 2013, Serena was awarded the Muse Award for Visual Arts: Emerging Artist Category by the Mission Cultural Resources Commission.

Serena's work resides internationally, throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and United Arab Emirates.
